My First Facial and Massage!
I received complimentary services at D.Tour Spa in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.
Confession time: I have been to a few spas before in the past, but I have never had a massage or facial before. It's definitely something I've always wanted to try but just something I never got around to or had the time for. I was recently invited to the D.Tour Spa in the Motor City Casino Hotel with a few other Detroit bloggers (including my friend LJ over at AJourneyEast!) and my experience was absolutely wonderful.
My first impression of the spa was that it was very inviting, clean, and luxurious. It had a really nice ambiance to it and I could feel myself relaxing just walking through the spa. The lovely lady at the front desk gave us a tour of the spa and let us know where we could find the changing rooms, bathrooms, waiting rooms and additional amenities. I actually really appreciated the quick tour because it was helpful when going back and forth through various parts of the spa between services.
There was a really nice waiting room area where I found myself lounging in between services watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians LOL. There was a variety of refreshments in the lounge accompanied by candles on the table which gave the room a nice touch. There was also a buffet style brunch that was served as well which I thought was so nice.
In the spa you'll find a large sectioned off area near the changing room and bathrooms that include a sink area where you can get washed up in between services and also an area where you can get ready after your services as well. They are loaded with facial towels, toothbrushes and toothpastes, mouthwashes, hair sprays, curling and flat irons, brushes, and more. It's a great way to finish up your spa day and get ready for a date night afterwards or if you're heading off to work.
The D.Tour Spa offers thermal whirlpools, steam rooms, dry saunas, and rain shower facilities. There are 10 private treatment rooms so if you’re having a girl’s day type of get together, that would be perfect! I didn't try the whirlpool but it is able to seat about 15-20 women– it's huge! It also includes jets and a shower area so you can quickly rinse off when you're done before heading to get changed. The dry sauna was really nice too and included a wrap-around bench area that is perfect for larger parties. I thought the dry sauna was great for helping my manicure and pedicure dry faster while I relax too.
I was given a plush robe and slippers to use during my services and they were both really comfortable. I was also able to use a locker with my own code to keep my personal belongings safe while I was getting treated. I went to a waiting area that you'll find before the treatment rooms that was full of recliner styled chairs where you can lounge before your treatment. The therapists called me in and I was able to start my spa experience.
The first thing I received was an Urban Escape Facial that lasted for about an hour. It included a double cleanse, exfoliation, extraction, massage, face mask, and collagen and elastin treatment. The facial was so relaxing! I don't think I'll ever forget it. My face felt so rejuvenated and clear and I really loved the warm towels and the massages that followed. My therapist was so nice and would ask me how I was feeling throughout the treatment to make sure I was comfortable. It is definitely something I would go back for again and again.
After the facial, I was treated to a Swedish massage that lasted for about an hour. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty nervous because I've never had a massage before but I was definitely excited for it, too. My therapist was so nice and she used a really modest draping technique to make sure that I was covered throughout the entire massage. The room was dim and the music was very soothing and helped me relax while I was getting treated. I told my therapist my areas of concern (lower back and shoulders) and she really took care of those areas for me and I felt so relaxed and refreshed afterwards. One thing that I thought was so unique to this experience was the warm towels wrapped around my feet at one point of the massage. It was surprisingly relaxing and I thought it added a nice touch to wrapping up the service.
Lastly, I received a manicure and pedicure that was also in a private room. My nail technician was very friendly and offered me some tips about nail care since I am completely clueless about that! I chose a lovely blue color that helped me embrace my inner mermaid. The pedicure included a foot scrub that I thought was a lovely touch. I recommend going into the dry sauna for a few minutes to help your nails dry while you get relaxed, too. There are also a bunch of spa products along the wall located near the front desk that I thought was aesthetically pleasing as well and added to the decor of the spa.
The D.Tour Spa offers a variety of services including facials, massages, body wraps, body scrubs, couples treatments, manicures & pedicures, waxing and more. I was treated to an Urban Escape Facial, Swedish massage, and manicure and pedicure. They are able to accommodate a large party as well so if you’re looking for a “girl’s day out” type of thing I would highly suggest the D.Tour spa!
Overall, I really enjoyed my day at the D.Tour Spa and I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. I thought it was so lovely from the look and feel of the spa and tremendous privacy to the welcoming and accommodating staff. The lighting of the spa was perfect and you can hear the soft music playing throughout the entire spa that really helps put you in "zen" mode. I highly recommend the D.Tour Spa and I can't wait to go back!
