Behind the Scenes of The Real O'Neals!

I was invited by Disney to attend the #QueenofKatweEvent and #ABCTVEvent Although all expenses were paid, all opinions are my own. Last month I had the chance to walk down the red carpet for the premiere of Queen of Katwe in Los Angeles. While we were there, we had the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and meet the stars of the ABC show, The Real O’Neals.

This show is hilarious.

It is a show about a not-so perfect family trying to live their lives according to their very conservative standards. However, The O’Neals have a few secrets of their own that they reveal to each other over the season. One of the kids is anorexic, the other just came out as gay, and the parents are hinting towards a divorce!

This Tuesday, it’s all about Halloween. In fact, The Middle, American Housewife, and even Fresh Off the Boat will all be airing Halloween episodes as well! This 2-hour comedy block will not only make you laugh out loud, but will also probably inspire your Halloween festivities this year!

Behind the Scenes of The Real O’Neals

Going behind-the-scenes of The Real O’Neals was so much fun. Joining us for the set tour was Bebe Wood (Shannon O’Neal) and Matt Shively (Jimmy O’Neal) who were both so lovely. We got to check out the O’Neal household, starting from the outside and working our way around inside. There were so many trees/bushes on the outside because they were filming a special Christmas-related show. So, all of the decor you see will reflect that.

There were so many bells, lights, wreaths, ribbons, and ornaments all around the living room and even in the kitchen and stairway. The mantel was beautifully decorated and it all just made me feel so warm and cozy! One thing that stood out to me was the Christmas tree, it was beautifully lit. I definitely can’t wait for this episode to air.

Outside, they created snow which only took them 24 hours to set up. You will find what looks like another house on the side near the fence which was created to make it look as if it was a neighbor’s house. I thought that was so interesting. You will also find a cozy little living situation out in the shed, or maybe it is an extra room? We will find out during the season!

“The Real Halloween”

In this episode which airs tonight, Kenny plans to go to Boystown to watch the festive costume parade during Halloween, or what he likes to call “the gay Super Bowl”. Eileen agrees to let Kenny have his own Halloween party at home to prevent him from attended the parade. Her tolerance is tested when Kenny recruits Stuart and his gay friends to join the party and he makes a BIG costume change. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Shannon plan to pull off an epic Halloween prank!

ABC Tuesday Night Comedy Block!

For this 2-hour comedy block, be prepared for more Halloween!

“The Middle” – “Halloween VII: The Heckoning” – As Halloween approaches, Frankie is taken aback when she discovers that if the circumstances ever arose where she and Mike got divorced, the kids would all choose to live with Mike. Meanwhile, Sue tries everything in her power to get her room back from Brick, and having to be so nice around girlfriend April (Greer Grammer) all of the time leads Axl to lash out at his family. (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

“American Housewife” – “Westport Zombies” – Katie, jealous of Taylor’s friendship with neighbor Viv (Leslie Bibb), reluctantly competes in the Westport Halloween “Zombie Run” after she finds out they’ll both be running. Meanwhile, Greg and Anna-Kat get a little too much in character for the zombie part of the run’s obstacle course. (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

“Fresh Off the Boat” – “Louisween” – It’s Louis’ favorite holiday, and he makes every attempt to scare Jessica into the Halloween spirit, but she is buried in her word processor, drafting her first horror novel. Meanwhile, Emery and Evan debate costume choices, and Eddie and his crew are excited to party with high schoolers at Nicole’s house. (9:00–9:30 p.m.)
