Here in Michigan, our winters can sometimes drag on until April. It’s inevitable to go through a cold, flu, or winter blues during that long season. That’s why I try to be as prepared as I can be with my own DIY winter kit– my “Winter Wonderful Kit”.

DIY Winter Kit

Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, muscle aches– you know it’s bound to happen during this time of year. My Winter Wonderful Kit is always stocked with my favorite essentials.

I love to include tea, snacks, pain relievers like Tylenol, muscle soothers like epsom salt and Bengay, tissues, a book to read, and something cozy to keep me warm. These are several things I like to include that cheer me up and make me feel good from the inside out.

What I Include

When I’m feeling sick, I make sure to drink a lot of tea and I always have lozenges on hand for my sore throat. I keep a stash of tissues nearby for a runny nose. I also keep an empty tissue box to place used tissues in, which is easier than having a huge trash bin on my bed. I also like to keep a book to read to help pass time.

When I need to relax I love taking a nice, warm bath.

My favorite thing to put in my bath is epsom salt, which is great for sore muscles. I also love to include my favorite bath salts for an added clean, fresh feeling. To help me relax, I light some of my favorite scented candles and listen to music to unwind. I put on my favorite face mask and just soak in the bath for 20 minutes or so.

Pain Relief

If I’m looking for relief from a cold or flu, or even for aches and pains, my go-to is Tylenol® PM. It relieves minor aches and pains and helps me fall asleep. It also relieves my headaches when I’m sick, too. I always include this in my kit.

My "Winter Wonderful" kit is my favorite thing to have on hand for when I'm having a sick day or just going through winter blues. It can be so easy to create a kit that is always stocked with essentials to help you fight those dreary winter days.

To keep my DIY winter kit stocked, I like to shop at Target where I can find everything I need. I can grab my tea, tissues, a book to read, and even my Tylenol® PM all in one store. It's convenient especially if you're having a sick day.
