On Set of The Middle + Season 8 Premiere Tonight!

I was invited by Disney to attend the #QueenofKatweEvent and #ABCTVEvent. Although all expenses were paid, all opinions are my own.

While I was in Los Angeles for the red carpet premiere of Queen of Katwe, we had the chance to go behind-the-scenes and on set of some awesome ABC shows including The Middle, which premieres tonight at 8/7c for Season 8!

I had the chance to watch the season premiere and it was really good! You do not want to miss it tonight.

When we first arrived on the set, we were greeted by Atticus Shaffer who was so sweet and took his time shaking all of hands and introducing himself to us. He plays “Brick Heck” on the show and in the season premiere he is starting a very exciting time in his life! We also got to meet Patricia Heaton (Frankie Heck), Neil Flynn (Mike Heck), and Charlie McDermott (Axl Heck) who were all very kind and welcoming. We had the chance to take pictures with them and then we got a tour of the set.

One thing I learned about The Middle is that they actually use film to shoot the scenes because they like the way it looks as opposed to digital– isn’t that so awesome? Knowing that as I watch the show gives me a greater appreciation for all the work that goes into it.

We also got to visit the Wardrobe trailer which was very interesting. The Middle has been on air since 2009 and they have an awesome system for their costume efficiency. They take pictures of every outfit before shooting and specially code them into the system so that if needed, they can go back and find the exact same outfit if they have to re-do a scene or edit something afterwards. It’s very convenient and keeps things organized.

In the Wardrobe trailer you’ll find many of the same items in various colors, various duplicates, and each character has a very specific style so walking in the trailer you can tell exactly which section belongs to which character. It was very cool to see.

Season Premiere of The Middle “Core Group”

In the season 8 premiere of The Middle, Frankie and Mike are excited to meet April (Greer Grammar), the love of Axl’s life, but they discover that love may indeed be blind when April reveals a quirky personality trait. Meanwhile, after getting bit by the acting bug while working at Dollywood over the summer, Sue wants to change her major to theater, and Brick is starting high school and making it his mission to try for a fresh start and not be considered one of the weird kids.

Looks like so much fun to be on set with the stars. I’ve only caught The Middle a couple of times before, and it looked like a great show. I had no idea that they used film instead of digital! I figured film was a thing of the past!

Would you believe I have never watched an episode of The Middle before? I’ve heard it is very funny, but I never thing about it when I’m watching TV. I will have to look it up on Hulu and see if I can catch it.
