Pamper Your Skin: My Skincare Routine

My skincare routine doesn’t really change throughout the year in regards to the actual procedure, but I do love trying out new skincare products to see what works for me. Here are 5-6 steps I take on a daily or weekly basis to ensure that my skin is in the best condition it can be no matter what.
STEP 1: CLEANSE
The first step in my skincare routine includes cleansing and removing all of my makeup. Generally, I have two methods of doing this and the first is something so simple I’m surprised I didn’t discover it sooner. Two words: Coconut Oil! I rub a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil on my face and start massaging it into my skin. This melts off all my makeup with ease, even my waterproof mascara! Then I take a wash cloth and ring it out under hot water and lay it on my face for a minute to really open up my pores. After a minute or so, I just wipe away all of the coconut oil/makeup and I’m good to go. I usually do this method everyday, even if I’m not wearing makeup.
For a deeper cleanse when I want to feel more pampered, I reach for a facial cleanser and cleansing brush. I’ve been loving the ACURE Organics Cleansing Cream and Clinique Sonic System Purifying Facial Brush lately. The ACURE Organics Cleansing Cream gently purifies and cleanses my face without drying it out. It adds moisture while it cleans and is perfect for normal to dry skin like mine. When I pair it with the Clinique cleansing brush, it’s a perfect combination. The Clinique cleansing brush offers sonic movement that gives me a deep yet gentle cleanse. The angle-tip of the brush targets T-Zone and other hard to reach areas like around the nostrils. I’ve tried a few cleansing brushes in the past and this is the best one I’ve tried yet.
STEP 2: TREAT
After cleansing my face, I like to treat my skin to a face mask. Lately I’ve been using the Pur Minerals “Dirty Girl” Detoxifying Mudd Masque with Pascalite Clay. I love using masks for the “treatment” part of my routine because it makes me feel really pampered. Masks are also a great way to detoxify the skin by pulling out all of the dirt stuck in the pores and the best part is that you can leave it on for 15-20 minutes while you take a bath or paint your nails so you don’t even have to worry about it while it works it’s magic. The Dirty Girl Mudd masque from Pur Minerals has been one of my favorites lately because it exfoliates and unclogs pores, eliminates excess oil, dirt, and impurities and helps clear up my skin complexion with ease. It also doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or irritated. After the masque gets dry, I wash it off with lukewarm water and then I go in with really cold water and rinse my face a few times to help close back my pores.
STEP 3: TONE
Toning is a step I used to skip until recently. I never understood the importance of toning your skin, but now I do. It helps to shrink your pores and make them appear smaller and it also helps restore the pH balance of your skin. I love using a spray toner throughout the day, but during a thorough skincare routine like this one, I usually tone my face after I treat it.
For toners I’ve been using the Pur Minerals Tone Up Total Eye Fitness twice a day. It comes with a pump, so I just use one pump for both under eyes in the morning and at night. The Pur Minerals Tone Up is a triple action formula that firms, lifts, and smoothes away the look of puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles. I have dark circles and this has helped reduce the appear and has also helped with hydration of my under eyes as well. I usually use this once in the morning and once at night.
I also love using the ACURE Organics Facial Toner after cleansing and periodically throughout the day when I need a refresher. STEP 4: SERUM
I like to use a facial serum to get intense hydration to my skin quickly and effortlessly. I use a serum facial mask once a week and then I use a serum roller ball everyday for touch-ups after cleansing and toning my face. STEP 5: MOISTURIZE
I moisturize my face twice a day, once in the morning using a moisturize with SPF like my favorite, the Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturizer with SPF 15 and again at night after my thorough routine using the Pur Minerals Soak It Up Intense Hydrating Moisturizer for a longer treatment. I love using the Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturize during the day because it’s very light-weight and works perfectly underneath my makeup. It’s also none greasy, so it makes it easier to wear throughout the day.

It feels very rich and luxurious and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and dewy and for someone with dry skin, that is really important. I love using the Soak It Up Moisturizer at night because I know that it will have a longer affect on my skin when I’m not doing anything to irritate it, so before I sleep I put a small amount on my face and let it work it’s magic. When I wake up, my skin feels so refreshed. It’s one of the best moisturizers I’ve used at night so far.
STEP 6: PROTECT
Now that I’ve gone through this entire routine, here are some easy tips to further protect your skin from any damage. Wearing sunscreen or moisturizer with SPF to reduce sun damage is something you can do quickly in the morning before you leave the house for the day. You can apply it 5 minutes before your makeup to ensure hydration and sun-protection. I can’t stress the importance of drinking adequate amounts of water each day, it has made such a huge difference to my complexion and overall balance, it’s so important. Make it a goal to drink half your weight in water each day.
