A Purr-fect Design!

8 Flares 8 Flares ×

When I first launched The Michigan Mom last year, I had no idea what I wanted it to look like in terms of design. I did know that I wanted to hire Lindsay of Purr Design to make it happen– whatever IT was.

Way before launching, we drew up some plans. I filled out a detailed questionnaire so she could understand my design preferences a little more– color schemes, patterns, fonts, images. Then we worked on the structure and layout. She sent me mockups, we made some changes, and then BAM! we launched.

I was so happy with my design. It was mellow and it was fun– just how I like it.

But, then the Winter came around and literally sucked away my inspiration and creative juices. I needed a change.

I go through this phase every year when Spring rolls around. I find myself spring cleaning everything. My closet, my body, my online presence, my mind.

So, I got back into touch with Lindsay and asked her if she had any openings for a redesign. She is a busy bee and is booked out to 8 months, so I was very excited when she said yes.

She asked me what I had in mind for the changes I wanted to make, and I honestly had no idea (again!). I just knew I wanted something different. I wanted more contrast, more bold colors, more organization.

So, I opened up photoshop and started working on a design template. Those web design classes didn’t go to waste after all! I started playing with the header image design first. I wanted to play off of the word “michigan” in terms of having 5 lakes, which lead me to the blue color and then I worked on the rest of the structure and layout details.

I sent Lindsay my design and she quickly sent me back mockups for my blog and we went back and forth changing and rearranging things until we reached this purr-fect design.

I LOVE IT. It’s just what I’ve always wanted in my mind, but now externalized. I love that she was able to take my design inspiration and literally make it come to life. It’s amazing.

It’s clean, bold, fresh and it’s just the change I needed this Spring.

Lindsay was (and is always!) so great to work with. She is diligent, hard-working, and really knows how to pull it all together. I am so pleased with my first design and now my current design! I highly recommend Purr Design for your web design and branding needs. You won’t be disappointed!

I’m seriously so picky and it’s because of all the design classes I took in college. Every little detail has to be perfect and that makes me a totally PITA to work with, so I really have to thank Lindsay so much for putting up with my craziness. THANK YOU!

*This is not a sponsored post. I paid for the services and was SUPER pleased with it and now I’m writing about it because that’s what bloggers do.

A great design makes all the difference. The designer did a great job of making it look fun and professional, while still having a very simple, easy to navigate design. – Katy
