One of my latest favorite pieces of jewelry this month is my new origami owl necklace. My Origami Owl necklace was provided to me for review by an Origami Owl Independent Designer. The opinions expressed in my review are genuine and my own. Keep reading to find out why I love my Origami Owl necklace and then enter to win one!

Origami Owl was founded by a 16 year old who believed that you can do anything you set your mind to. She wanted to buy herself a car and she raised money by hosting jewelry parties. Who knew that through her hard work of saving for a car she would create a wonderful jewelry business at the same time!

At Origami Owl, every jewelry creation reflects who you are as an individual and what kind of dreams and goals you have for yourself. I was contacted by Allison, an Independent Origami Owl Designer here in Michigan to review an Origami Owl necklace for myself. Prior to this, I had never heard of Origami Owl, so I was really excited to learn more about it.

Why I Love My Origami Owl Necklace

What I love about my Origami Owl necklace is that is is highly customizable. For my living locket, I was able to choose different charms that represent me. You can add as many charms to your origami owl necklace as your living locket will fit. The charms are interchangeable, so you can choose several and then highlight different charms whenever you’d like.

Choosing charms was the hardest part for me because there are so many to choose from, I could’ve easily chosen 20 for my locket. I choose a laptop for my blogs and everything else I do online, a camera because I love taking pictures, an artist’s palette to inspire me to be creative, and a silver May birthstone boy charm to represent my son, Zach. Each charm represents an important aspect of my life: family, hobbies, business, and creativity.

I chose to back my Origami Owl necklace with a silver plate that reads “believe” because it’s a good reminder for myself. If I really want to accomplish something, I need to first believe in myself that I will be able to do it, no matter what it is. Much like the founder of Origami Owl. The plate is thin, but durable and I can’t see Zach bending it which is good. I love the font and think it adds a great touch to the origami owl necklace.

The charms are small yet durable and yield so much detail. They are a variety of charms to choose from so you can be sure to find a handful of charms to represent yourself. I will definitely be adding more charms to my living locket overtime, and I’m really excited about it! The Origami Owl necklaces come in a small pouch I think is super cute and convenient for storing your necklace when you’re not wearing it.

My living locket is a matte black with crystals and what I love about it is that it can go with anything I wear. It is see-through, backed with a thin glass piece, so without the “believe” backing, my charms will just be floating around, which is pretty neat. It also features a magnetic closure that I’m a huge fan of. It is really secure, so I know Zach won’t be able to open it accidentally. I wasn’t sure which chains to choose, but Allison generously sent over 2 chains- one is a 16-18″ and the other is a 30″ chain. I really like the way both chains allow the necklace to fall across my chest. I will be wearing them interchangeably depending on what I’m wearing.

Overall, I love the quality and durability of the pieces of my origami owl necklace. I think it’s great that you can express yourself through jewelry and to be able to make a statement and tell a story with what you’re wearing from Origami Owl is amazing. I am excited to see the different charms that will come out in the future.

A Few Words From The Designer

I love everything with Origami Owl. I signed up with this company because I felt I was missing something in life. I started doing research and found this amazing story about a 16 year old girl, wanting to earn money to buy her first car. I looked more into it, and as soon as I read their mission statement, I knew this was the company to go with. The mission statement is “Our missions is to be a force for goo; to love, inspire + motivate women of all ages to reach their dreams + empower them to make a difference in the lives of others.” This is exactly where I needed to be. The jewelry is high quality, a great product. Selling it brings me joy, to help someone tell their story, their journey. This makes my heart warm. This is why I love Origami Owl and being a designer.

I’d get the pawprint charms (I have my own dog rescue and five of my own Coonhounds and three cats) and the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon (to honor my mom and good friend, Kristine, who passed away from breast cancer, and for my good friend, Debbie, who is going through cancer treatments now).
