A New Mindset | Taking Back Control of Your Life

I’ve been all over the place these past few years.

Mentally and physically.

I’ve assumed necessary responsibilities, I’ve started new projects, I’ve been inspired, I’ve been stressed, I’ve lost focus, I’ve been incredibly happy and sad, I’ve questioned my existential state of mind, I’ve been content, I’ve traveled and I’ve been stuck in the same spot– all at once.

I’ve decided that if I want more out of life then I have to take initiative and make the necessary changes that I want in my life today.

Not tomorrow, not 5 years from now– today.

It’s easy to get lost in the past and think about how differently things could’ve turned out if (insert regrets here) didn’t happen the way they did. It’s easy to curl up in a ball and sleep all day and ignore everyone and everything. It’s easy to give in and give up.

But life isn’t suppose to be easy.

It’s suppose to be challenging and most importantly, fun.

If something in your life is draining you from the inside out, then it’s time to reevaluate things and make a change for a better you.

If you’re not happy with your current situation, change it.

Only you have the power to do so.

Not your mom, not your dad, not your siblings or spouse– you.

Don’t let yourself get lost in the “what ifs” and “whys” of the past.

Accept it as a learning experience, learn from that experience, and move on.

There are definitely choices I regret making in my life, but they have helped shape me into the person that I am today.

So instead of dwelling in the past, I choose to make the most of what’s happening in my life right now and plan for my future as well.

I set goals and try my best to see them through.

Granted there comes a point in time where I feel as if there are so many goals that I want to accomplish in my life and it only counts if I finish them right this second.

And then I feel like I just don’t have the time to get anything done at all.

I get so overwhelmed wanting to accomplish EVERYTHING all at once, that I just give up entirely.

And the cycle continues.

But that stops now.

I’ve made a list of goals I’d like to accomplish that will help me be the best “ME” I can be.

Things I can do today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life.

Things that will make me feel accomplished and happy.

Things that I’ll be proud of.

One of those things is to take back what started this nasty cycle in the first place– my unhealthy lifestyle.

After I had Zach, I developed some of the worst eating habits I’ve ever had and I haven’t been able to break out of them since. The result? 30lbs of extra weight, a depressed state of mind, and an unmotivated and lethargic individual.

I feel like if I can focus on “me” and take care of my body, then I can easily take care of my mind and ultimately take back control of my life.

Losing weight is not a piece of cake.

If you’ve been following my weight loss journey on Instagram then you’ll know that I’m almost half-way through with my first goal– losing 25lbs. I’ve been on the Medifast program for 5 weeks now and while I’ve had my ups and downs, I’m back on track and have lost a total of 10lbs so far. Learn more about Medifast here.

I feel different. Not just physically, but mentally as well. I feel motivated and determined to complete my goals and become a better “me”.

Food plays such an important role in your mental state that I know if I can be healthier, I will be happier. And that’s really all I want out of life is to just be happy– and it starts from the inside.

If I can channel this energy into my other goals then I know I will be successful in everything I do.

I just want to be a better role model for my son and show him that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Whatever it may be.

If you’re in a rut and feel like nothing isn’t going right and everything in your life just sucks, know that I’ve been there and I know what you’re going through.

But also know that you have the power to change it, too.

Don’t ever forget that.

Losing weight is not easy. I think you need all the determination and spirit to do it whole-heartedly.

Once I told mom that life is really difficult and she said to just take it one day at a time. Until now, I take that advice. If I’m not happy at the current situation, I know that there’s always a better tomorrow.

Life is about changing the things you can and accepting the things you can’t. I guess having the right mindset will make things easier.

Life is about changing the things you can and accepting the things you can’t. I think life would be easier if we have the right mindset.

It starts with your thoughts, persecutions, and beliefs. Mind set shifts are amazing. That’s why I love coaching people.

Yes. I have this same problem. I’ve found that when I eat real food, I feel better. When I eat packaged, processed, fast – I lose all motivation. I also need to lose weight, however about double what you are trying to lose.

So true-losing weight is not easy! I’m currently on a weight loss journey but taking care of 5 kids, running my blog, running a business and everything else it always takes the back burner! I’m hoping soon to be able to change that.

All very true! Yes, I can change myself… sometimes it is getting motivated and focussed enough to do it. I am working on taking off the baby weight from 3 kiddos. The ups and downs definitely affect my mood, attitude and productivity. Keep up the good work. It will all be worth it. :)
