Million Dollar Arm: Must-See Summer Movie!
I attended an event on behalf of Disney, however all opinions are my own.
Million Dollar Arm opens in theatres everyone today!
Million Dollar Arm is a story of dreams, inspiration, and following your heart. I had the opportunity to watch Million Dollar Arm three times. Yes, three! And I loved it every single time. It’s one of those movies that I can watch over and over again and not get sick of it. It’s a beautiful family movie that I urge everyone to see– at least once!
In “Million Dollar Arm”, Jon Hamm plays J.B Bernstein, a sports agent that has everything to lose when he’s down to his last chance at an amazing business deal. He loses everything and realizes that the only way he can come back on top is to come up with something that’s never been done before. He holds a contest called “Million Dollar Arm” in which he travels to India to recruit baseball players that can pitch over 80mph for a chance to win a million dollars, but more importantly, a chance at a Major league baseball tryout. Only thing is that the players he recruits have never played baseball. Like, ever.
While in India, he finds 2 amazing pitchers, Rinku and Dinesh, and brings them back to the States to train for their major league tryouts. Over the months, the boys (along with their trusty translator/coach Amit) try to adjust to the American culture, food, people, language, and the game of baseball. They of course encounter a lot of challenges, but they learn to work through them with the help of each other.
There are a few set backs and plot twists that will leave you speechless and upset, but they do sort themselves out in the end. One of the saddest parts in the movie left me crying like a baby, and while I won’t spoil it, you will figure it out when you watch it. It was something I could relate to when I went overseas for the first time, so it brought back those sad memories of leaving family.
You will fall in love with Million Dollar Arm just as I have and I would definitely recommend you see it with your family. It is truly a must-see summer family movie. I took my older brother to watch it with me and he loved it! While baseball is a huge part of it, there is the underlying story of following your dreams that everyone can relate to.
