My Medifast Results Week 1

I’m so excited to share that I’ve been selected as a Medifast blogger and will be sharing my weight-loss journey with you over the upcoming months. In exchange, I will be receiving Medifast meals to facilitate my journey.


Medifast is a clinically proven program that helps people effectively lose weight through it’s portion-controlled, nutritionally balanced, low-fat meals. There are various plans to follow on Medifast, but the most popular is their 5 & 1 plan which allows you to eat 5 Medifast meals and 1 “Lean and Green” meal each day.

I placed my order for 2 weeks to start off during the month of Ramadan to see how I can adjust to fasting and being on Medifast at the same time. I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I did know that I was super excited to start Medifast.


My first order came in and for my first two weeks on Medifast I chose the Chocolate Crunch Bar, Peanut Butter Crunch Bar, Dutch Chocolate and French Vanilla Ready to Drink Shakes, Honey Mustard Pretzel Sticks, Chicken & Wild Rice Soup, Macaroni & Cheese, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Chewy Bar, Brownie Soft Bake, and Cheese Pizza Bites.

I decided to start on Friday July 4th and to my surprise it was extremely easy to stay on plan.

With the 5 & 1 plan you are eating every 2-3 hours to really help boost your metabolism. The Medifast meals are full of protein (at least 9g in each meal), fiber, and carbohydrates to really give you energy throughout the day and to keep you full between meals. You are allowed a “Lean and Green” meal (the “one” in the 5 & 1 plan) where you can eat your own meal that consists of protein and vegetables.


I’ve definitely discovered some Medifast favorites already and that’s the great thing about Medifast, the meals are satisfying and tasty. You can really discover some favorite products that will help you stay motivated to stay on plan. Here is the Medifast Brownie Soft Bake that I make with a tablespoon of PB2 occasionally and even without the PB2 it’s freaking delicious.


Here is an example of my “Lean and Green”. My family was having fried chicken that day and as much as I wanted some, I decided to put a spin on my own meal. I crushed up the Medifast Cheese Pizza Bites into a flour-like consistency and then I drenched the chicken breast in the mixture with some mozzarella and baked it in the oven at 375ºF for 30 minutes, flipping half-way through. It was SO good! I split this meal into halves and ate half for dinner and the other half later in the day.

Because I started Medifast during Ramadan, I’m fasting all day long from food and drink and so I have to have my Medifast meals between the hours of 9pm and 4am. That’s such a short period of time to eat 6 meals in, so I try to have something every hour to hour and a half to keep things consistent. Once the month of fasting is over, I’ll be able to have my Medifast meals every 2-3 hours as intended.


On my first week of Medifast, I was shocked to find out that I lost 6.4lbs! I know the first two weeks you have bigger losses and than you lose about 1-2lbs each week after that while on the plan, but I was still so surprised! I have tried so many different diets in the past since having Zach and this was just a really good motivator for me to stay focused and on plan. I am so happy with my weight loss this week and I can’t wait to keep it up!
