Zach’s First Haircut, Baby. Before and After

Alright, alright, I lied.

So it’s not his first haircut, per say.

It’s more like his 4th… but it was his first haircut with me!

Zach’s First Haircut Baby: Before.

Here’s my younger brother and Zach before his haircut. Look at those curls, man.

Look at them!

I love his hair curly. I really do. But look what happens when his curls grow out too long, he starts looking like he’s balding near the sides. It also makes his face look a lot smaller as well.

I decided to take Zach to get his haircut when he started sweating a lot while he slept and scratching his hair to no end. I could tell because his hair was getting long that it was also getting on his nerves a bit.

It was the first time I took him to get his haircut because while we were overseas, he dad used to take him. I never got to experience my baby’s first haircut, but I got over it (after a long 2-hour cry-fest) and got to take him yesterday.

Zach’s First Haircut Baby: After!

Look at my baby :’) He looks like a big kid.

I honestly didn’t know how his hair should’ve been cut so I left it up to the hairstylist. I asked her to trim his curls but keep some wavy-ness on the top, and she did.

He was SO good during his haircut, might I add.

He sat still and didn’t move around too much. He wasn’t distracted, but he was very curious as to what this strange lady was doing to his hair. He did cry a little when she lined up his neckline, but then it was over! He was done getting his first haircut, baby.

His first haircut with mommy.

Did you cry when your baby got their first haircut? Why do moms get so emotional?

XO,
Aly

We have a few curly heads and I cried EACH time they got cut away after that 1st cut! And! They just don’t grow back the same… soft, fluffy little heads are the best!!

I agree, they definitely don’t grow back the same. I’m noticing now that his curls aren’t as soft anymore :(

My little man is almost 2 and hasn’t had his first haircut yet. I just don’t want to cut off his cute little curlies!

I wonder if I had waited until his second birthday to get his first haircut how long his curls would be. He would definitely have an afro.

He is adorable! My son has curls and a lot of hair but I love the curls and have yet to do the traditional boy hair cut for him.

Thanks Jackie! I would say, keep the curls!! My son’s curls don’t grow back the same with each haircut, it’s so sad. But his hair started bothering him because he was getting really hot and I thought I’d do him a favor and get his hair cut shorter for the summertime.

It was tough for me to cut my son’s curls. They never grew back!

Aw! He looks so much older! We waited until our little one was maybe 2 and I was so sad to finally cut it! He looked much older when we were done too.

He is absolutely adorable! I was in total denial about my son needing a haircut when he was little; I just didn’t want him to do it!! I don’t know why we get so emotional about it either :) Now I look back at ‘before’ pictures and I wonder how in the world I couldn’t see that he needed a trim. Badly…

    • Aly replied: — May 24th, 2013 @ 1:45 pm

Thanks Jen! Haha, I am always in denial when Zach needs a haircut, until he finally gets one and I’m like “Wow, what a difference!” I guess moms just don’t “see” anything wrong with their kids’ hair sometimes! Haha

Oh my goodness, I love those curls. It reminds me of my brother when we were kids.
