2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD

The Mazda CX-5 AWD is one of my favorite cars to have been able to test-drive. It’s the perfect size for me, it has a lot of room, is able to seat up to 5 passengers, and was such a smooth ride. It’s definitely comparable to the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, but I think I liked the Mazda CX-5 AWD just slightly more.

The Mazda CX-5 AWD features clear lens halogen headlights and daytime running lights that automatically turn on. Also included are halogen fog lights, making this perfect for vision in any weather. One of my favorite features were the rain-sensing windshield wipers! This was really cool, I didn’t even have to worry about turning the wipers on/off.

The power side mirrors have integrated turn signal lamps and they are also heated side mirrors so they won’t get foggy while it rains or snows, which is much appreciated living here in Michigan. Another favorite feature of mine involves safety, and is the blind spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert. This is perfect for those who are constantly driving on the highway. Sometimes you get those unexpected instances where even though you check your blindspot, a car just comes racing by. With these alerts, the car with start to make a beeping sound to alert you there’s a car in your blindspot and that it’s not safe to enter the lane or pass. Although it’s not a good idea to heavily rely on this system alone, it is really a great added safety feature.

The Mazda CX-5 AWD features 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that are perfect for all seasons. The Mazda CX-5 AWD is also an all-wheel drive, so it’s functions well in rain, sleet, or snow. The Mazda CX-5 also features a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to alert you when there’s no enough pressure in your tires and that it’s time to put more air in your tires. I never know which tire is low on pressure, so this system is great for letting you know exactly which one needs air. It also features a dynamic stability control and a traction control system. This allows the tires to work together during sharp or unexpected turns to keep from slipping around the road.

The Mazda CX-5 AWD seats up to 5 passengers and features leather-trimmed sport seats that were super comfortable and cozy. Another cozy factor? The front seats are heated up to 3 levels which is always such a treat to have in a car. Both the steering wheel and shift knob are also wrapped in leather, which adds a level of luxury to the Mazda CX-5. It features a push-to-start keyless entry which makes it so convenient when you’re getting ready to start driving. There is dual-zone automatic climate control with pollen filter which is perfect if you and your passenger have different comfort levels in terms of temperature. There is also a center console armrest that has a tray and covered storage bin. This is where I like to keep my wallet and other small personal items like tissue, hand sanitizer, and chapstick.

From the steering wheel you can control various aspects of the audio and infotainment features in the Mazda CX-5. There is a cruise control with steering-wheel mounted controls. You can call and accept phone calls, there are volume buttons for the radio, and more. There is a 7” full-color touch screen display which allows you to access by voice or by hand the HD Radio, Pandora and Stitcher internet radios, SMS text message audio delivery and reply, other radio broadcast systems, as well as the Mazda Navigation System. There is Bose® Centerpoint 2® Surround Sound audio system with AudioPilot® and 9 speakers which make listening to music, phone calls, or navigation in the Mazda CX-9 so much enjoyable and crystal clear. There is also Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio capability which I use most of the time while I was driving and there is the Mazda Connect infotainment system voice command.

The back comfortably seats up to 3 passengers. The rear center seat has an armrest that folds down which includes integrated cup holders, making it even more comfortable for your passengers. There are also front and rear door bottle holders and storage for extra space. The padding on the seats feel very comfortable and also included are LATCH child safety seat anchors, upper tether anchors, and child safety rear door locks. These are so important for me because I have a little one who likes to play with the door while I’m driving.

There is so much space in the Mazda CX-5 AWD! The seats in the back fold down to 40/20/40 split with a one-touch fold down rear seat back. There are tabs you can use to bring the seats forward which makes the entire process of folding the seats down and back much easier.

I was really impressed with how much space there was in the back for my groceries. And if I ever needed additional room, all I had to do was fold the seats down. It was really easy to store away large items and coolers in the back as well.

In the back you’ll also find this cover that you can attach to the top of the gate which is perfect for keeping all of your items in place while you’re driving, especially if you have a large amount of things in the back. This screen can be used or it can just retract as shown above, it all depends on your personal preference, but I think it’s a really cool feature to have included in this model.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Mazda CX-5 AWD. I think it’s such a perfect car for me. It has so much room and was able to fit so many things for me on a daily basis making it perfect while I was driving. Even though I’m a mom, I don’t really need a huge car– this one is the perfect size for me and my little one and it drives like a dream. I love how chic yet sporty it looks and I love that it can drive in any weather, which is perfect for Michiganders. If I was in the market for a new car, this would be it!

When I bought my very first car it was a toss-up between a Mazda, and the Fusion I ended up buying. I love my car however, I have a thing for anything Mazda!

Now, this post has come right on time, since I am looking for a new car now. I have never really looked at Mazda but this make me want to check it out. I am nervous about the touch start entry, but I guess cars are being made that way now.

Now that is a beautiful vehicle! I love the features in the rear view mirror — especially the heat feature. Not having to worry about getting ice off in the winter would be great! I am definitely impressed with all of the trunk space, too. Wow!
