2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE

When the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE pulled up into my driveway I thought: HOLY MOLY! This car was huge. Clearly, it doesn’t look that big, but for someone that’s used to driving smaller cars, this seemed like a bus to me. It was really intimidating just looking at it, but I couldn’t wait to get in and see all of the cool features it had to offer.

The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE offers a big upgrade in style and comfort, so I was really excited to try it out. I reviewed the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport last October and fell in love with it, so I couldn’t wait to see the difference.

The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE features fold-flat third row seats so you can seat up to seven people and when you have a big family like mine, that is great news. The third row seat folds down in a 50-50 spilt fashion and the second row seat folds down in a 60-40 spilt fashion. There’s not a lot of leg room for the third row passengers, but I imagine if you are seating children in the back as opposed to adults, then it works out fine.

Grocery runs were great with the option to fold down the third row seating for extra trunk space, too. To fold the seats down, I just had to pull on those strings and release them for the seat to go down, which was really easy. You could even do this one-handed if you are carrying stuff in your other hand, too.

In the back you’ll also find cup holders for your passengers and a Rockrod Fosgate sound system! This system pumps up to 710 watts through the speakers including a 10-inch subwoofer with Punch Control to deliver a rich bass and crystal clear highs.

The leather seating throughout the Outlander was simply beautiful. It adds another level of sleekness and luxury to the interior that I loved. The second row seating was very roomy and the seats themselves were pretty big, too. It helped make my passengers very comfortable. There is a cup holder that folds out from the seats which is great if you are seating two passengers and it can also act as a divider between the two passengers as well they can have more room.

The heated front seats kept me comfortable while driving in the snowy weather and my passengers loved that feature right away. There’s a dual-zone front climate control to keep you and your passenger comfortable on the road. You can keep your temperature cooler and your passenger can keep their warmer or vice versa. This is such an awesome feature to have for me because I like cooler weather in the car while I’m driving, even if it happens to be cold outside. I get hot and uncomfortable while driving sometimes, so I don’t have to compromise my comfort while driving with this feature which is much appreciated.

Easily one of my favorite features is that when the FAST-key is inside the car, you can just put your foot on the brakes and press the Start/Stop button and the engine starts right away. I always love this feature because it makes everything that much simpler. If you’re not used to this feature, it will take a couple of tries to get used to, I remember the first time I drove a car with this feature I thought I lost the keys and couldn’t find the ignition but then I remembered it was a push to start ha ha.

There’s also a 6.1” touch panel display that features HD Radio that includes AM/FM signals, a rearview camera that is seriously a must for me while reverse parking, SIRIUSXM satellite radio, navigation, bluetooth hands-free phone system that I used frequently injunction with my music, CD and Mp3 audio system and more. Another cool feature is that I can actually control some of these things directly from the leather covered steering wheel! When my phone is connected, I can answer phone calls, control the volume of the music and even change tracks while staying focused on the road. The Mitsubishi Outlander SE also has ECO mode which helps with fuel efficiency and I noticed that I was able to drive a long period of time without having to worry about filling up on gas, too.

Safety features include Forward Collision Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Warning System, 7 airbags (including one underneath the driver’s dashboard!), LATCH child restraint system, child safety rear door locks. The Lane Departure Warning system uses a camera to monitor lane positions in the front of the car and if it detects the car is leaving its lane will alert the driver. This is such a cool feature to have especially if you drive frequently for long hours during the night. There’s another cool feature mentioned, the Forward Collision Mitigation, which alerts the driver of oncoming obstructions that can help you avoid accidents and if required, can also apply the brakes automatically. SO cool.

The 18” alloy wheels are lightweight but strong enough to endure the twist and turns of the snowy streets. I had no problem driving this car in the snow, it was such a good sport! The Active Stability Control feature has sensors that grip each tire and if a wheel begins to slip, it applies the brakes to the wheels with the most traction. This is such a good feature to help prevent sliding across the roads during the rain or snow.

The headlights on the Mitsubishi Outlander SE were pretty good, they are super-wide beam High-Intensity Discharge headlights that made driving at night a lot easier. The Outlander also features rain-sensing windshield wiper system which I thought was pretty awesome! The side mirrors are heated so this helps when things are getting foggy due to the rain or colder temperatures. Also to help with precipitation, the rear wiper with washer made driving through the snowfall easier as well. The upper front grille is redesigned and looks much classier in my opinion, too. You’ll also find a power sunroof that my son absolutely loved!

Overall, I really enjoyed driving the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE! It had a ton of really cool features that made it very practical for me to drive. I think the size is great if you have a larger family like mine, but I would prefer a smaller vehicle personally. I definitely loved how effortless it was to drive this car in the snowy weather though, which is a HUGE plus for me. SO, with that said, I think I still love the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport just a little bit more.

What are your favorite features of the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE?

Wow! That looks like an awesome vehicle! I would love to have something like that. My son is really tall, so I’d have to see if he could fit comfortably in the driver’s seat too.

Wow this looks like a really nice ride. We don’t have licenses or drive, but plan to in the next year or so and this would be a perfect second vehicle!

This looks really nice. Mitsubishi makes great cars. I had an Eclipse a few years ago and I loved it. I will keep this in mind next time I go car shopping.

I would take that car! Especially how the back seats fold down allowing my fur baby to have more room in the back…it’ll be perfect.

I would love a new 2015 vehicle. The one in the photo looks amazing. I need to find a different place to rent before thinking of getting a vehicle. However, I will keep this one in mind and your review.

Sounds like a cute little car!
It’s a little too small for us but would be perfect for my daughter.
Love the leather seats… what a great add :)
