2015 Mazda5 Minivan

The Mazda5 was probably one of the most interesting cars I’ve driven so far and it has everything to do with the fact that this car is small yet packs a lot of punch! I would describe it as a mini-mini van. You could almost say it’s cute, too. The Mazda5 looks really sleek from the outside and it’s even more luxurious on the inside, filled with storage space, third row seating and more.

The Mazda5 seats up to 6 passengers plus cargo. The second and third row seating seats up to 2 passengers each and both come with the option of folding down to give you maximum storage when you need it, despite the limited space. The rear lift gate and low cargo floor make loading and unloading quick and easy and you never have to compromise storage with space in the Mazda5.

There is even extra storage inside the 2nd row seats which include a fold-out tray with cup holders. When you’re not using them, the tray easily stores away into the seats which also makes a nice isle for your third row passengers to get in and out of the vehicle as well. I thought the storage factor on the Mazda5 was really nice and it would be really great for longer trips on the road when you need to pack a few extra things.

The sliding doors make tight parking spaces or transporting cargo a breeze. I loved how easy the sliding doors were to use. In other mini vans I’ve driven the doors were always so hard to open, you almost had to struggle with them. For added safety there is a child-proof lock to help keep children safe while the car is in motion as well. This was so important for me because my son started to try to open the doors while we were driving once and it gave me such a scare, so knowing that the Mazda5 had that child-proof lock made me feel a lot better.

I loved using the hands-free bluetooth connectivity which allowed me to control my phone through voice command and make and receive phone calls with a push of a button on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. This feature helped me keep my eyes on the road which is good for everyone in and out of the car. I could also control music with the mp3-compatible audio system that comes with an aux input jack, through the bluetooth connectivity, or thought the SiriusXM Satellite Radio so there are lot of options.

The Mazda5 comes with leather-trimmed heated front seats and a power sliding moonroof to enhance your driving experience during the night or day. I loved the leather seats in this car I thought they added such a nice touch of elegance throughout the vehicle. I will say that the 3rd row seating was a bit tight for adult passengers in regards to leg room, but if you’re driving with younger children it is perfect.

The wheels feature dynamic stability control and traction control which help prevent wheelspin and increase traction when you brake hard or are turning a corner. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist determines how much force to apply to the front and rear brakes and more controlled stops. I felt like this car was really smooth when it came to making sharp turns and coming to a stop, it was effortless. For added safety, there are advanced dual front and side-impact airbags and air curtains to help protect the driver and all of the passengers in the car. If you aren’t the greatest reverse parker in the world like me, then you’ll rejoice to learn that the Mazda5 comes with available backup rear sensors to help you detect objects behind the car when you can’t see them in reverse.

The headlights on the Mazda5 were really awesome! I love driving at night but if I can’t see where I’m going there’s no point of being on the road and some car headlights are horrible! This one features Xenon headlights and halogen fog lights to give you enhanced night vision to help see the road ahead. The Mazda5 also features rain-sensing windshield wipers which I always think are the coolest thing! It also has a power sliding-glass moonroof and although we didn’t use it because it was freezing at the time, it was still a nice feature. There are dual power side mirrors that are also heated and they are integrated with turn signals which helps altering other drivers on the road.

I took my siblings out for dinner while I was test driving the Mazda5 and they all really loved it. They were so surprised with how small it was and how it was still able to have so much storage space and they all said that it was such a smooth ride! I agree. The Mazda5 was definitely a pleasant surprise to drive.

What are your favorite features of the Mazda5?

That sounds like a great vehicle for moms (and dads) who like driving minivans. I have never been in one, but I know a lot of people love them for the storage space.

That is such a good looking minivan and wow, does it ever have tons of room in the back. I always wanted a Mazda when I was younger and I think you just revived my love for the brand. Zoom zoom!

Now that sounds awesome. All of that extra room would seriously be handy for the amount of traveling I do.

It has a pretty sleek look to it. This, indeed, would be very efficient in tight spaces.

When I was in Europe I saw small vans like this everywhere. I say why not save gas where you can. The cuteness factor is high on this van!!

That looks like a fantastic family car! I need something bigger, better and updated. My poor car is pretty much on its last leg.
